June 26th

The final agenda for the symposium has been posted including the list of selected student presenters. Congratulations to authors of the nine outstanding abstracts that were picked from over 70 submissions!
The list of successful applicants for our travel fellowships has been published as well. It was a challenging task for the organizing committee to select the seven best applications out of over 40 that had been received. Congratulations to the successful applicants!
Instructions for poster presenters are now available. Instructions for oral presenters will be made public soon.
We are also happy to welcome the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Program of Iowa State University and BMC Bioinformatics as sponsors of the symposium.
Please come to the Awards Ceremony of the Symposium at the Open Business Meeting of the ISCB Student Council on Monday July 21st during the lunch break! We will post the room details shortly but we can assure you already that there will be lunch for you at the meeting.

Oxford Journals Bioinformatics will provide funds for Best Presentation and Best Poster Awards and sponsor the poster session of the symposium giving us the opportunity to provide a free buffet.

We have moved the notification date for travel fellowship applications from June 9th to June 1st. This will give successful applicants the opportunity to register for ISMB before the end of the early registration period and save 200 USD.

In collaboration with some of our sponsors we are providing a total of 7 travel fellowships for undergraduate, master's and PhD students from all over the world. Submit your applications before May 26th!

Furthermore, we are pleased to announce that through the generosity of additional sponsors we will again be able publish a selection of outstanding abstracts as a supplement to BMC Bioinformatics.

We have posted the final agenda with keynotes by Mark Gerstein, Timothy Hughes and Burkhard Rost as well as a panel discussion on "Career Paths in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology". Our panelists will be Philip Bourne, Alfonso Valencia, Jong Bhak and Richard Wintle.
